Update from the Goods in Poland -

3 DAYS…… 72 HOURS RIGHT NOW SINCE TED’S OPERATION
MAJOR COMPLICATIONS!
  1. Artery collapsed during surgery
  2. 2 Cardiac Arrests soon after surgery
  3. First night eye not reacting --- sign of brain lacking oxygen
For about 24 hours after surgery he did not awake or respond in any way…. even for 8 hours after sedation drugs were turned off.  Things looked bleak and HOPE was fading.….
MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS!  JUST TODAY!
  1. Eyes open
  2. Responding to commands
  3. Lifted head off the pillow
This afternoon, we were able to see and speak to him via internet on the telephone.  We sang my favorite chorus from back at Colebrookdale Chapel:
“I just keep trusting my Lord as I walk along
I just keep trusting my Lord and He gives a song.
Though the storm clouds darken the sky o’er the heavenly trail
I just keep trusting my Lord He will never fail

He’s a faithful friend, such a faithful friend,
I can count on Him to the very end.
Though the storm clouds darken the sky o’er the heavenly trail
I just keep trusting my Lord He will never fail”

Ted, was looking at us on and off.. but then I prayed and Deb says that his eyes were open and right with me the entire time that I was praying!
PRAISE THE NAME OF THE LORD!
THANKS FOR PRAYERS AND PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING!

Howard and JoAnn Brant -

Howard and JoAnn sent us an update.
My wonderful wife, Jo-Ann has her 81st birthday tomorrow, April 13th.  Some of our family came together to celebrate today.  I would call the day she was born a blessed day. What joy she has given me and many others.  I doubt that she has an enemy in the world, and she is loved by many... including me.  Happy Birthday to the sweetest lady I know.  You are the love of my life.

April was a special month: Jo-Ann caught up to my age and we enjoy getting old! Facebook friends materialized “out of the woodwork” with greetings and stories, our mini-family celebration was extended over the whole weekend with gratitude (from over 200 friends all over the world). We continue to see Ethiopian missionaries continue to take steps of faith. As Howie edits letters from these missionaries, he sees their great effectiveness in some really tough places. Their focused discipleship is bearing fruit in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Guinea, and Nigeria. We recently were blessed to hear about spiritual growth among the Oromo people in Woliso, Ethiopia. In 1971 our first mission assignment was to a place called Woliso. It was in a resistant area. A number of SIM teachers, medical workers and church planters had worked there for decades before us as this was a resistant area with only six widely scattered rural churches. By the time we left several years later, there were thirteen. But we just got some good news. Today, fifty-four years later, there are 235 churches that grew out of those humble beginnings. Jesus continues to build HIS church, and we praise the Lord. Health Update: Howie has developed bradycardia (slow pulse rate) over the last few months. After several tests our cardiologist recommended a pacemaker. He says it is a straightforward procedure, and he has done many of these implants. Pray this will go well on April 28th. We track our SIM donor’s list, and many of you contributed recently toward our support or ministry. One family noted that their digital donation had not been deducted for a year and a half and jumped in to follow up on their pledge. It amazes us how the Lord supplies our needs each month… and when giving is low, we pray, and God keeps surprising us. Finally, we encourage you to be joyful in the Lord. Nehemiah wrote, “The joy of the Lord is strength.” Neh. 8:10 Rejoice… and again I say, Rejoice. Blessings: Howie and Jo-Ann Brant

Update from Jim and Lynda Dugan -
The PNG Trip:

Thank you for praying for my trip to Papua New Guinea! We often do not know how important our prayers really are. We were planning to start on Monday, but we had to delay our start because Jasper, Moses’ five-year-old son, became very sick on their flight to Port Moresby. Moses and Brenda spent Sunday night in a medical centre with Jasper. The doctors were able to treat his very high fever and stomach infection immediately. Jasper was able to recover quickly, and we were able to begin our staff conference on Tuesday. We had a wonderful time of teaching and encouraging each other. Our time was well-spent fellowshipping and growing closer together.

Lynda’s Health Update:

I am often asked, “How is Lynda doing?” My answer is always the same, “Her spirit is good, but her body is not.” Lynda will be undergoing a few “procedures” in the next two months to help her manage her pain. Each procedure will involve a day trip to the hospital and a light anaesthetic as they give her a nerve block.

On April 2nd she will have a cornea transplant on her right eye. You may remember that she had a transplant on her left eye in 2023. We praise the LORD for a great ophthalmologist who is looking after her sight. The hardest part of the surgery is that Lynda will have to lie flat on her back for three days. Lying flat is very hard for Lynda; in fact, she sleeps in a Lazy Boy reclining chair. Lord-willing, the first nerve block will help some; however, we know that the best help will come from your prayers.

Our Trip to USA:

We are working to confirm our dates and, Lord-willing, we hope to have all our dates set soon. Thank you to all who are praying for our travel and meetings. We hope to see as many of you as possible. Once our meetings have been confirmed, we will let you know when and where we will be.  Keep praying!

If you can help financially with our travel needs, please see the links below.

Thank You:

Missionary work is teamwork!  Our ministry would not be possible without the participation of our faithful prayer warriors and financial supporters. Thank you for taking the time to pray for us and for supporting our ministry.

God Bless,

Jim and Lynda Dugan
